BOBST, together with SHARP Die Cutting Mould Malaysia, successfully hosted a two-day customer open house on 20–21 May 2026 at SHARP Die Cutting Mould’s facility in Kuala Lumpur, welcoming folding carton and corrugated board converters from across Southeast Asia.
Over the two-day open house, the event attracted a strong turnout of over 100 packaging converters from across Southeast Asia, representing both folding carton and corrugated board segments. Attendees included business owners, senior decision-makers, production managers, and technical specialists, reflecting broad industry interest in high-performance converting tooling and connected workflows. The high level of engagement throughout live demonstrations and technical exchanges underscored the event’s success as a valuable industry platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and future-focused innovation.
The event showcased integrated converting solutions spanning high-performance die cutting tooling, and connected digital workflows, reinforcing how collaboration across the value chain drives productivity and precision. Apart from updates on BOBST folding carton and Corrugated board innovative solutions for all product portfolios, this open house featured excellent machine demonstrations of the NOVACUT die-cutting series featuring ACCUREGISTER, stripping and blanking solutions with features such as non-stop delivery, fast tool changes, and seamless adaptability for short runs, it provides the versatility our customers need to optimize productivity and respond quickly to evolving market demands.
During the BOBST NOVACUT AER machine demonstration, three packaging applications—cookies, cigarettes, and pharmaceuticals—were showcased to highlight the machine’s versatility, precision, and efficiency. The demo featured an 8-up single-cut cookies job on 350 GSM paperboard with embossing and reverse cutting, a high-efficiency 16-up cigarette job on 230 GSM paperboard, and a complex 21-up pharmaceutical job on 350 GSM paperboard with double cutting and embossing. The NOVACUT AER demonstrates the ability to handle diverse substrates, layouts, and shifting production requirements while maintaining consistent, high-quality performance.
Attendees at the open house were highly impressed by the NOVACUT machine demonstration, particularly the ACCUREGISTER and blanking, which clearly showcased strong register precision and stable performance throughout the run. The smooth operation of non-stop delivery, along with efficient stripping and blanking and quick tool changeovers, highlighted the machine’s ability to deliver both high productivity and flexibility. Overall, the demonstration reinforced strong confidence in the NOVACUT as a reliable solution for efficient, high-quality die-cutting operations.

“For Malaysia and the wider Southeast Asia market, flexibility and efficiency are key to staying competitive. BOBST’s blanking technology is designed to simplify operations through advanced automation, ensuring stable, high-quality output with minimal downtime.” said Xavier MICHELET, Zone Business Director SEAP FC & CB, Printing & Converting.
The event also marked the official launch of BOBST’s folding carton and corrugated board production lines in Malaysia, marking an important step in strengthening the company’s local market presence. This included the NOVAFFG and VISIONFFG, which are ideal solutions for the brown box segment – typically one or two colors with simple die cuts. They deliver excellent slotting, creasing and folding accuracy, which is critical for brand owners using automatic case-erecting systems that require perfectly square boxes. These are cost-effective and purpose-built for customers seeking reliable, high-volume production with optimal capital investment.
Attendees also gained insights into BOBST’s evolving service models, and the latest capabilities of BOBST Connect, highlighting performance optimization and TooLink integration. BOBST’s new Regional Services Director APAC, Alex Volery, also updated attendees on the range of services BOBST provides, highlighting BOBST TooLink for Die-Cutters on BOBST Connect. This solution enhances die-cutting performance with faster job changes, reduced set-up time, and optimal tool settings for every run-ensuring consistent quality, improved productivity, automated tool monitoring, simplified digital inventory, and seamless collaboration for continuous improvement.
The open house also featured industry partners including CITO, UNIVACCO, ESKO, OMM, and Apex International, emphasizing ecosystem collaboration across tooling, workflows, and packaging production. The event provided converters with practical insights into future-ready converting operations, underscoring the value of certified tooling, connected machines, and strong industry partnerships.
A central highlight was SHARP Die Cutting Mould’s role as the only BOBST-certified die maker in Southeast Asia. SHARP demonstrated its precision-engineered dies, stripping systems, and blanking solutions, illustrating how certified tooling enhances die-cutting accuracy, reduces make-ready time, and increases overall production efficiency. The BOBST Die Maker Certification Program serves as a global quality benchmark, assuring converters of tooling excellence that meet stringent machine performance standards.
